SANTA RITA, Guam — Serving partners in the Northern Mariana Islands and Guam, the USCGC Oliver Henry (WPC 1140) crew returned to Guam in time for Father's Day, completing a patrol from June 12 to 18 in the Mariana Islands.

Coast Guard Port Security Unit returns home following nine-month overseas deployment

JOINT BASE LANGLEY EUSTIS, Va. — U.S. Coast Guard Port Security Unit (PSU) 305 servicemembers returned to Joint Base Langley Eustis Thursday following a nine-month deployment to Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, where the unit served as the Maritime Security Detachment (MARSECDET) in support of Joint Task Force Guantanamo (JTF-GTMO).

MEDIA ADVISORY: U.S. Coast Guard Academy welcomes the Class of 2027

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Approximately 300 young women and men of the incoming Class of 2027 will arrive at the Coast Guard Academy, Monday, June 26. Where they will start Day One of their 200 week cadet training program. Day One marks the traditional start of Swab Summer, an intense seven-week training program designed to transform civilian students into military members ready to accept the challenges that await them in their pursuit to become Coast Guard officers. During their first day at the Academy, the Swabs (as the new cadets are called) will cycle through haircuts, uniform issues, drill practice and various administrative in-processing stations. Day One Schedule: 6 a.m. - 9:20 a.m. – Swabs arrive and check in. Location: Roland Hall 7 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. – Uniform issue, haircuts, drill practice, lunch, and administration in-processing. All companies will cycle through these events throughout the day. Location: Chase Hall 3 p.m. - 4:15 p.m. – Swearing-in Ceremony and class photo. Following the class photo, Swabs say goodbye to their families before returning to training. All guests must depart at the conclusion of the ceremony. Location: Washington Parade Field or, in the event of foul weather, Roland Hall’s third deck Editor’s Note: Media interested in attending Day One must contact the External Affairs Office at cga-public-affairs@uscga.edu by noon Friday, June 23 to ensure access and parking availability. All media must be escorted by Academy staff while in Chase Hall, the building that contains cadet barracks and living quarters.

Coast Guard sets Port Condition WHISKEY for the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico

The Coast Guard Captain of the Port San Juan set Port Condition WHISKEY effective 8p.m. Tuesday for the U.S. Virgins Islands and Puerto Rico due to Tropical Storm Bret approaching the Caribbean. The Captain of the Port San Juan strongly cautions the maritime community to remain vigilant and take the necessary precautions as Bret potentially makes its way into the Caribbean as a tropical storm.
