U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Munro holds a change of command ceremony

SAN DIEGO — The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Munro (WMSL 755) held a change of command ceremony Thursday in San Diego. Vice Adm. Andrew J. Tiongson, Commander, U.S. Coast Guard Pacific Area, presided over the ceremony in which Capt. James O’Mara IV relieved Capt. Rula Deisher as Munro’s commanding officer.

MEDIA ADVISORY: Coast Guard Recruiting Office St. Paul to host grand opening event at new location in Bloomington, Minnesota

The Coast Guard is scheduled to hold a grand opening event Saturday, for a new recruiting office in Bloomington, from 1 to 3:30 p.m.

Recently, the Coast Guard assisted in the rescue of an overdue 26-foot fiberglass skiff from Kiritimati Island, Kiribati.

A Kiribati good Samaritan vessel was able to use the potential vessel drift model provided by the U.S. Coast Guard to find and rescue the three fishermen after they were reported missing on May 12, 2024.

MULTIMEDIA RELEASE: Coast Guard crew offloads $468 million worth of cocaine in San Diego

SAN DIEGO — The crew of Coast Guard Cutter Munro (WMSL 755) offloaded approximately 33,768 pounds of cocaine, with an estimated value of $468 million, on Tuesday in San Diego.  The offload is a result of eight separate suspected drug smuggling vessel interdictions or events off the coasts of Mexico and Central and South America by the Coast Guard Cutter Munro in February and March.
