Coast Guard to conduct final planned testimony for the Grande Costa D’Avorio Hearing
NEW YORK — The Coast Guard and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will hold the final planned witness testimony Wednesday in support of the ongoing investigation into the fire that occurred on July 5, 2023 aboard the Italian-flagged cargo vessel, Grande Costa D’Avorio, while docked at the Port of Newark, New Jersey. Coast Guard recovers man deceased while interagency search for 1 other continues off the Condado beach area San Juan, Puerto Rico
Coast Guard air and surface units recovered an unresponsive man from the water, Sunday, and continue to search alongside interagency partners for one other man who remains missing off the Condado beach area in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Monday. Recovered deceased is Charles Victor Daniel, 20, from Moline, Illinois, while still missing is Staff Sgt. Fidel Cruz Llanos, 34, member of the Puerto Rico National Guard, who reportedly dove into the water to assist a man in distress. Bystanders reported that Cruz Llanos was last seen, approximately 80 yards from shore, going under and not resurfacing.

UPDATE 3: Unified Command continues response to sheen offshore of Huntington Beach
SAN PEDRO, Calif. – Unified Command continues to oversee the response to an oil sheen observed offshore of Huntington Beach. An overflight conducted this morning did not observe any sheen offshore. As such, offshore recovery assets will be demobilized. Shoreline cleanup teams continue to observe tar balls along the beaches in Huntington Beach and will continue to remove them as needed.

UPDATE 2: Unified Command continues response to sheen offshore of Huntington Beach
SAN PEDRO, Calif. – The Unified Command continues its response Saturday to an oil sheen located two and a half miles off Huntington Beach. An overflight on the morning of March 9 did not observe any remaining recoverable sheen. Tar balls were observed along the shoreline in Huntington Beach, and onshore recovery teams will assess the shoreline and remove them as needed.

Coast Guard warns public of dangerous illegal charter operations following arrest of two individuals
NEW YORK — The owner and operator of the vessel Stimulus Money, Richard Cruz and Jaime Pinilla Gomez, were arrested and served with a complaint yesterday after the July 2022 capsizing of the vessel while underway on the Hudson River, resulting in the death of two passengers, a seven-year-old boy and 48-year-old woman. Coast Guard offloads $4.5 million in seized cocaine, transfers custody of 2 smugglers to federal law enforcement in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico
The crew of Coast Guard Cutter Joseph Napier offloaded 182 kilograms of cocaine and transferred custody of two male smugglers to federal law enforcement authorities in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, Friday. The British Royal Navy HMS Trent (P224), operating with a Coast Guard LEDET onboard, seized the contraband and apprehended two smugglers, Dominican Republic nationals, following the interdiction of a go-fast vessel in Caribbean Sea waters southwest coast of Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, March 3, 2024.
Unified Command is Responding to Oil Sheen Offshore of Huntington Beach
A Unified Command with representatives from the U.S. Coast Guard, California Department of Fish and Wildlife's Office of Spill Prevention and Response (CDFW-OSPR), and Orange County Sheriff's Department has been established in response to an oil sheen observed offshore of Huntington Beach.

Coast Guard, Virgin Islands Search and Rescue rescue 3 boaters from sinking sailing vessel near the British Virgin Islands
Coast Guard and Virgin Islands Search and Rescue units rescued three boaters near Horseshoe Reef, approximately six nautical miles southeast of Anegada, British Virgin Islands, Thursday. Rescued are three adults, who reportedly were forced to abandon the sailing vessel Quartz, a 33-foot catamaran, after the vessel struck the rocks and began taking on water. All three boaters were wearing lifejackets when rescued.
