U.S. Coast Guard sails to outer islands of Federated States of Micronesia with needed equipment and supplies
POHNPEI, Federated States of Micronesia — The USCGC Oliver Henry (WPC 1140) crew arrived at Dekhitik Harbor in Pohnpei on Feb. 1 as part of an international effort to deliver essential supplies and equipment to the drought-affected outer islands of Nukuoro and Kapingamarangi Atolls. Due to the El Niño weather phenomenon, these remote communities required immediate assistance, including water purification solutions, to combat the scarcity of potable water.

SANTA RITA, Guam — In a demonstration of inter-service cooperation and expertise, the crew of the U.S. Coast Guard Station Apra Harbor's 45-foot Response Boat-Medium supported an intricate cast and recovery training exercise in Apra Harbor on Feb. 1, 2024. This vital training involved collaboration with the U.S. Army Scouts from the 3rd Squadron, 4th U.S. Cavalry Raiders of the 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team (IBCT), 25th Infantry Division, and the U.S. Navy Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25 - the "Island Knights," based at Andersen Air Force Base.

U.S. Coast Guard strengthens ties with the Marshall Islands Sea Patrol, Australian Pacific Maritime Security Program in Majuro
SANTA RITA, Guam — U.S. Coast Guard Forces Micronesia/Sector Guam personnel conducted a series of engagements in Majuro, Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI), from Jan. 24-29, 2024. This visit marks a continuation of efforts to enhance the U.S. Coast Guard's positive relationship with the Marshall Islands, particularly its maritime law enforcement entity, the RMI Sea Patrol. This trip highlights the enduring partnership between the U.S. Coast Guard, its Pacific Island partners under the Compact of Free Association (COFA), and the resident U.S. State Department team.

Coast Guard rescues 2 French boaters from disabled sailing vessel, approximately 147 miles south of Puerto Rico
Coast Guard Cutters Vigilant and Richard Dixon crews rescued two boaters from a disabled sailing vessel, Thursday, in the Caribbean Sea, approximately 147 nautical miles south of Puerto Rico. Rescued are French citizens Robert Punginier, 77, and Marie Claude Durand, 50, who reportedly were disabled and adrift for over seven days.
