Coast Guard rescues 6 boaters near Pavell Island, Texas

HOUSTON — The Coast Guard rescued six people from their overturned vessel near Pavell Island, Texas, Sunday.

SANTA RITA, Guam — In 2023, in a relentless pursuit of excellence in maritime safety, the Joint Rescue Sub-Center Guam (JRSC) team once again showcased its commitment to complex and agile search and rescue (SAR) operations across the vast Western Pacific. This commitment is epitomized through their recent collaborative exercises with international SAR entities, marking a significant stride towards operational excellence and international cooperation. As JRSC Guam observes the anniversary of the creation of Rescue Coordination Centers (RCCs) on April 1, their innovative efforts and dedication have rightfully placed it as a nominee for the prestigious Geoff Pagels SAR Professional of the Year Award.

Joint operation leads to cocaine seizure in Bahamas

MIAMI – U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Borinquen aircrews assisted the Royal Bahamas Police Force and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration with the transfer and disposition of approximately 391 kilos of cocaine worth an estimated value of $7.5 million, Tuesday, at the Mayaguana Airport in The Bahamas.

Coast Guard searches for U.S. Marine off Luquillo, Puerto Rico, cautions for life-threatening conditions in Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands beaches

Still missing is Samuel Wanjiru, a U.S. Marine resident of Mass., who was visiting the island with his family, when he came into distress after going in the water Wednesday afternoon in the beach area of “La Pared” in Luquillo, Puerto Rico. The National Weather Service in San Juan. Puerto Rico has advised of High-Surf, Small-Craft and Life-Threatening Rip Current Advisories for eastern, northern, and western beaches in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands through the weekend.

Coast Guard cutter sustains damage during transit into St. Marys River

Click the hyperlink above to view the entire press release. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Sea Dog (WPB 87373) sustained damage during the crew’s inbound transit from sea to the St. Marys River, Monday.

US Coast Guard Cutter Venturous returns home to Florida following multi-mission deployment

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Venturous (WMEC 625) crew returned to their homeport in St. Petersburg, Friday, after a 60-day Caribbean patrol supporting Homeland Security Task Force – Southeast's Operation Vigilant Sentry and Joint Interagency Task Force – South’s counterdrug missions. While on patrol, the crew of Venturous repatriated 65 migrants. The migrants were safely transferred to Venturous from Coast Guard cutters Dauntless, Forward and Vigilant. Aboard Venturous, the migrants were given food, water, and basic medical care before being repatriated to the Haitian coast guard in Cap-Haïtien, Haiti.
