Sector St. Petersburg watchstanders received a mayday call, Friday, April 12, around 11 p.m., from three people reporting that their 47-foot commercial fishing vessel was sinking, 1 mile southwest of Johns Pass. A Coast Guard Station St. Petersburg boat crew recovered all three people floating next to their partially submerged and aground vessel, at around 11:10 p.m., then transported them to Johns Pass Marina to receive higher-level care from emergency medical services. No injuries were reported. The mariners coordinated their vessel’s recovery with commercial salvage and had 605 gallons of diesel pumped, Monday, from the vessel’s fuel tank. Coast Guard, partners rescue 14 boaters in active week off Florida’s Suncoast

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg crews responded to multiple cases throughout the week after receiving, a combined, 17 distress and marine safety calls. Throughout the week, Sector St. Petersburg watchstanders received requests for help from several disabled vessels resulting in the rescue of 14 boaters. In one case, an Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon alert and mayday call were made, allowing a Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater aircrew to locate the vessel.

UPDATE: Coast Guard suspends search for missing man near Port Mansfield, Texas

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Coast Guard has suspended its search at 10:09 a.m. Tuesday for a missing 19-year-old man near Port Mansfield, Texas.

The crew of USCGC Oliver Henry (WPC 1140) arrive to Woleai, Yap State, Federated States of Micronesia, on April 12, 2024, with an injured 9-year-old boy and his parents for further transport aboard a Pacific Mission Aviation flight to a higher level of medical care in Yap. Upon arriving to Satawal to deliver drought relief supplies in partnership with USAID and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the U.S. Coast Guard crew was informed of the boy's injury sustained when he fell from a tree. The ship's EMT, Petty Officer 1st Class Joshua Pablo, consulted a U.S. Coast Guard flight surgeon who recommended the medevac and provided care throughout the more than 13-hour overnight transit. U.S. Coast Guard conducts medical evacuation and delivers drought relief in Federated States of Micronesia

YAP, Federated States of Micronesia — Following a high-profile rescue of three mariners from Pikelot Atoll, the U.S. Coast Guard, operating through the USCGC Oliver Henry (WPC 1140) and coordinated by U.S. Coast Guard Forces Micronesia/Sector Guam with U.S. Embassy and USAID partners, continued their vital service in the Pacific by conducting a critical medical evacuation and delivering more than 15,000 lbs. of essential drought relief supplies to several island communities from April 9 – 13, 2024. "This past week, the crew demonstrated profound capability and compassion," said Lt. Ray Cerrato, commanding officer of the Oliver Henry. "The little moments of true empathy—from CS1 Pablo, our ship's cook and a certified EMT, who cared for the boy during our overnight transit, to GM2 and MKC, who gave up their own sleeping quarters so that the boy's parents could rest— really reflect the deep humanity and commitment of our team. It's personal, and they make these sacrifices without second thoughts. That is the true spirit of the Coast Guard."

Coast Guard seeks public comment regarding proposed slow speed zone in Miami

The Coast Guard is seeking comment on a potential regulated navigation area for certain waters surrounding Port Miami. The notice was published in the federal register, Thursday.

Coast Guard medevacs U.S. passenger from Disney cruise ship 180 miles northwest of Puerto Rico

A Coast Guard MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter aircrew conducted a medevac for a Disney Fantasy cruise ship passenger, Monday, in Atlantic Ocean waters 180 miles northwest of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. The medevac patient was a 35-year-old pregnant woman, U.S. citizen, who experienced health complications and required a higher level of medical care ashore.
