Western Maui Wildfire Emergency Support Function #10 Unified Command transitions to next phase in response

State and federal responders with the Western Maui Wildfire Emergency Support Function #10 (ESF #10) Unified Command, comprised of the U.S. Coast Guard, Hawaii Department of Health, and the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources, are entering the next phase of operations, termed Phase 1: Hazard Mitigation and Consultation, to restore Lahaina Harbor and surrounding waterways following the Aug. 8 wildfire.

Coast Guard, partner agencies conclude removal of hazardous materials and oil from Pacific Producer

The Coast Guard concluded its removal of fuel, oil, and hazardous materials (hazmat) from the fishing vessel 'Pacific Producer,' currently moored in the Thea Foss Waterway in Tacoma, Wash. The Coast Guard, Washington Department of Ecology, and Tacoma Fire Department initially responded to a report of an anhydrous ammonia release on Aug. 13, 2023. The vessel was determined to present a significant threat to the environment and the Federal on Scene Coordinator took action to protect public health and the environment.

Members of agencies forming the Florida Keys Area Maritime Security Committee completed a full-scale security exercise in the Port of Key West, Thursday.

The exercise focused on a simulated a mass rescue operation in coordination with a local passenger ferry.

During the exercise, agency members practiced rescue and recovery of people in the water, transport, and care of those who were critically injured, accounting for all brought ashore, verifying security increases at local waterfront facilities, and crisis communications.

Coast Guard medevacs a man approximately 40 miles off the coast of San Diego

SAN DIEGO — Coast Guard Sector San Diego responds to a medical emergency aboard a charter fishing vessel approximately 40 miles west of Point Loma, Thursday morning. At approximately 3:30 a.m., Coast Guard Sector San Diego watchstanders received a distress call from the fishing vessel Ranger 85, reporting a medical emergency. A 68-year-old male crewmember suffered a laceration and was bleeding.
