The Coast Guard activated the Oil Spill Liability Trust Fund and contracted Clean Harbors LLC as the Oil Spill Removal Organization, while cleanup crews have installed containment and absorbent boom around the vessel and will be looking to recover any remaining fuel from inside the vessel tanks.

Coast Guard responds to diesel discharge from partially sunken vessel in San Juan Harbor, Puerto Rico

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Coast Guard Incident Management personnel from Sector San Juan are responding Tuesday to a diesel discharge from the partially sunk 42-foot recreational vessel Ajo del País by Pier 11 in San Juan Harbor. Coast Guard Incident Management Division personnel are advising the public that there may be a strong smell of diesel in the area extending west from Pier 11 throughout the cruise ship terminals in San Juan Harbor and the Coast Guard Base.

USCGC Stone arrives in Montevideo, Uruguay for scheduled visit

MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay — The USCGC Stone (WMSL 758) arrived in the Port of Montevideo, Uruguay for a scheduled visit Sunday. Stone is conducting a multi-mission deployment in the South Atlantic Ocean, exercising the U.S. Coast Guard’s partnership with the host nation to counter illicit maritime activity and promote maritime law enforcement throughout the region. Stone’s deployment focuses on developing partnerships and increasing U.S. interoperability with South American nations to counter illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

USCGC Seneca’s crew returns home following 24-day Caribbean Sea patrol

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The crew of the USCGC Seneca (WMEC 906) returned to their homeport in Portsmouth, Friday, following a 24-day patrol in the Caribbean Sea. During the patrol, Seneca supported Joint Interagency Task Force – South and worked alongside the U.S. Air Force to disrupt nearly 1,350 kilograms of narcotics during two law enforcement cases in the Caribbean Sea.

On February 13th, 2023 U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Oliver Berry, a 154-foot Fast Response Cutter was tasked with assisting the vessel Eden Bound, a 58-foot long pleasure craft adrift 230 nautical miles Southwest of Oahu.
