CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Coast Guard and partner agencies rescued two men, Thursday, after their boat ran aground and one man became stuck in the mud in Two Sisters Creek, South Carolina. A Coast Guard Air Station Savannah MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew hoisted the man from the mud and the Beaufort County Water Search and Rescue airboat crew towed the boat back to the water with assistance from an Edisto Fire Department vessel. No medical concerns were reported. A Colleton County dispatch notified Coast Guard Sector Charleston watchstanders at 1:40 p.m., via landline, stating that a man was stuck in the mud and the other man remained on the aground boat in Two Sisters Creek. "Edisto Fire and Rescue arrived on scene quickly and worked flawlessly with our rescue swimmer to help the stuck man to safety," said Lt. Cmdr. Sean R O’Dowd, Coast Guard Air Station Savannah pilot on the case. "These partnerships with local agencies allow the Coast Guard to be more effective and better support the low country residents we serve." “This was a multi-agency rescue that was successful due to the interoperability between agencies,” said Daniel Seyle, Town of Edisto Beach Chief of Police. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Coast Guard medevaced a 49-year-old man aboard a cruise ship, Tuesday, 230 miles east of Port Canaveral, Florida. A Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew transferred the man to Holmes Regional Medical Center for further medical care. A cruise ship crew member notified Coast Guard District Seven watchstanders at approximately 2 p.m., via satellite phone call, stating a man had an urgent medical concern and required a medevaced. "This medevac was an excellent display of our crew's teamwork," said Lt. Nate Jones, U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater flight commander. "The unit watchstanders' logistical planning, C-130 aircrew communications relay and multiple demanding hoist evolutions by the helo aircrew resulted in the saving of a life." Coast Guard searches for boater in distress near Culebra, Puerto Rico

Coast Guard air and surface units are searching Wednesday for a boater in distress believed to have capsized in waters just west of Culebra, Puerto Rico. Missing is Roy L. Moreno Negrón, 30, who was last heard during a call with Coast Guard Sector San Juan watchstanders reporting a distress in which his 17-foot Aquasport fishing boat was taking on water and capsizing. Moreno reported he was wearing a life jacket.
