U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Tampa and crew return to home port following 67-day patrol in the Florida Straits and Windward Passage
The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Tampa (WMEC 902) and crew returned to their home port in Portsmouth, Tuesday, after a 67-day patrol in the Florida Straits and Windward Passage. Tampa deployed in support of Homeland Security Task Force – Southeast and Operation Vigilant Sentry within the Coast Guard Seventh District’s area of responsibility. During the patrol, Tampa’s crew conducted maritime safety and security missions while working with other Coast Guard cutters to detect, deter, and intercept unsafe and illegal maritime migration ventures bound for the United States.

Coast Guard to host public open house for planned cleanup activities in Kitsap County, Washington
SEATTLE — The Coast Guard is scheduled to host a public open house on Thursday, Sept. 21, at the Greater Hansville Community Center to discuss proposed cleanup activities to address lead-contaminated soil at the Point No Point Light Station property in Hansville, Kitsap County, Washington, Wednesday. The event will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Coast Guard Captain of the Port San Juan set Port Condition WHISKEY Wednesday for all seaports in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgins Islands due to Tropical Storm Lee. The Coast Guard strongly cautions the maritime community to remain vigilant and take the necessary precautions as Tropical Storm Lee approaches the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico on a west-northwest track across the Central Atlantic.
Coast Guard, clean-up crews remove fuel and oiled debris from derelict vessel washed ashore on Mona Island, Puerto Rico
Coast Guard Incident Management pollution responders and contracted cleanup crews completed the removal of diesel and oiled debris, Tuesday, from a 40-foot derelict modified low-profile vessel washed ashore on Mona Island, Puerto Rico. Due to the potential impact to the waterway, the Coast Guard activated the Oil Spill Liability Trust Fund and contracted Resolve Marine as the oil spill removal organization for this case. Currently, clean-up efforts are estimated at $190,000 hundred thousand and they are projected to increase.

The Coast Guard Cutter Alex Haley (WMEC 39) and its crew returned to its homeport of Kodiak following a successful 57-day patrol in the Arctic Ocean and Bering Sea, Monday.
U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Munro Visits Republic of Korea
GWANGYANG, Republic of Korea — U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Munro (WMSL 755) departed Gwangyang, Republic of Korea, following a scheduled port visit, August 16. While there, Munro conducted several days of engagements and exchanges with the Korea Coast Guard. The port call and follow-on at-sea engagements occurred during the 70th anniversary of the United States - Republic of Korea alliance which began July 25, 1953. “We appreciate and look forward to our continued partnership and at-sea engagements with the Korea Coast Guard,” said Capt. Rula Deisher, Munro’s commanding officer. “We are thankful for the hospitality of the city of Gwangyang and truly enjoyed the many opportunities provided to participate in both professional and cultural exchanges.”

DETROIT – The Coast Guard rescued one person from the base of a cliff Sunday, after their kayak capsized offshore near Shores Beach, Erie, Pennsylvania.
