Coast Guard returns 49 migrants to the Dominican Republic following illegal voyage interdiction in the Mona Passage

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - The Coast Guard Cutter Richard Dixon repatriated 49 migrants to the Dominican Republic between Wednesday and Thursday, following the interdiction of an illegal voyage vessel in Mona Passage waters near Puerto Rico. The interdiction is the result of ongoing local and federal multi-agency efforts in support of the Caribbean Border Interagency Group, CBIG.

UPDATE 3: Unified command continues response to vessel fire in Tacoma

TACOMA, Wash. — Crews continue their response to the fire aboard the fishing vessel Kodiak Enterprise moored in the Hylebos Waterway in Tacoma, Wednesday. Firefighting crews from Tacoma Fire Department and Resolve Marine continue to access interior spaces to put out hot spots and look for standing water. In the coming days, responders will ensure the ship is safe for investigators to get on board and for crews to proceed with salvage work, including removal of the reported 55,000 gallons of diesel onboard. The Coast Guard and NTSB will conduct an investigation into the cause of the fire.

Coast Guard Cutter Waesche returns home following counternarcotics patrol; $166M in contraband seized

The Coast Guard Cutter Waesche (WMSL 751) and crew returned to their Alameda homeport, Friday, following a 90-day counternarcotics patrol in the Eastern Pacific Ocean. The 418-foot national security cutter and crew patrolled more than 15,000 nautical miles conducting law enforcement and search-and-rescue operations in international waters off Central America and South America.

Del Rosso is assuming the duties and responsibilities of the commander of Coast Guard Sector Charleston from Capt. John D. Cole. Rear Adm. Brendan C. McPherson, Seventh District Commander will be presiding. What: A change of command ceremony is a time-honored tradition formally restating the continuity of the authority of command. It is a transfer of total responsibility and authority from one individual to another.
