Coast Guard releases report of investigation into Schooner Grace Bailey demasting

The Coast Guard’s Office of Investigations and Casualty Analysis published a report of investigation (ROI) to Marine Casualty Reports regarding the demasting of the Schooner Grace Bailey in Penobscot Bay, Rockland, Maine resulting in the loss of life of one passenger and injuries to five other passengers on October 9, 2023.

The Coast Guard Captain of the Port Honolulu reopened all commercial harbors in the Hawaiian Islands following the end of the tsunami advisory Wednesday.

Coast Guard medevacs woman from cruise ship 120 miles off Washington coast

A Coast Guard MH-60 helicopter crew from Air Station Astoria, Oregon, medevaced a woman experiencing a health emergency onboard the cruise ship Carnival Legend nearly 120 miles west of Grays Harbor, Washington, Tuesday night. At the time of the hoist, the cruise ship was transiting from Prince Rupert, British Columbia, to San Francisco, California. At 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, watchstanders at the Coast Guard Northwest District Command Center received the medevac request from the cruise ship Carnival Legend for a 71-year-old woman experiencing a cardiac event.

The National Weather Service has initiated a Tsunami Warning from Cape Mendocino to north of the California/Oregon border. An Advisory is in effect south of Cape Mendocino.

Coast Guard orders evacuation of Hawaii harbors, closes ports to inbound traffic

HONOLULU — The Coast Guard Captain of the Port Honolulu has issued an order for evacuation of commercial vessels from all commercial harbors in the Hawaiian Islands due to the estimated arrival of tsunami waves Tuesday at 7:17 p.m.
