The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Benjamin Bottoms (WPC-1132) interdicted four suspected aliens aboard a 20-foot cabin cruiser-style vessel approximately 10 miles west of Point Loma, California, Saturday morning.

Unified command established in response to tug sinking in Bremerton Marina
SEATTLE — On Friday, a unified command was established in response to a tugboat sinking in the Bremerton Marina. The unified command consists of the Coast Guard and the Washington Department of Ecology. Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound received an initial pollution report from the National Response Center regarding the vessel Dominion, a 130-foot tugboat, which sank around 4 p.m., Wednesday. It was reported that the tug contained an unknown amount of diesel fuel and about 200 gallons of lube oil when it sank.

Coast Guard Cutter Spencer returns home to Portsmouth, Virginia after 83-day maritime border security patrol in the Caribbean Sea, Windward Passage
PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The crew of Coast Guard Cutter Spencer (WMEC 905) returned to their home port in Portsmouth, Wednesday, concluding an 83-day maritime border security patrol in the Caribbean Sea and Windward Passage. Spencer’s crew deployed in support of Operation Vigilant Sentry while underway in the Coast Guard Southeast District area of responsibility. Crew members worked with interagency and international partners, conducting maritime safety and security operations to deter unlawful migration and protect America’s maritime borders.
Coast Guard seizes 75,000 pounds of cocaine through Operation Pacific Viper, averages over 1,800 pounds interdicted per day
The U.S. Coast Guard announced Thursday it has seized more than 75,000 pounds of cocaine in the Eastern Pacific Ocean since launching Operation Pacific Viper in early August, averaging over 1,800 pounds interdicted daily.

Coast Guard rescues 49 passengers aboard whale watching vessel after becoming disabled in Yaquina Bay bar
The Coast Guard rescued a whale watching vessel with 49 passengers aboard after the it became disabled in the narrow coastal bar near Newport on Wednesday. The captain of the 62-foot Discovery sent out a ‘mayday’ call to the Coast Guard after the vessel began producing excessive smoke and lost propulsion while in between the Yaquina Bay jetties at approximately 12:45 p.m.
