PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Coast Guard is scheduled to hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Aids to Navigation Team (ANT) Milford Haven building, Tuesday, at 9 a.m. in Hudgins, Virginia.
Who: Rear Adm. Zeita Merchant, commander, Coast Guard East District; Capt. Peggy Britton, commander, Coast Guard Sector Virginia; and ANT Milford Haven crewmembers
What: Ribbon cutting ceremony for new ANT building
When: Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 9 a.m.
Where: Coast Guard ANT Milford Haven, 63 Mill Point Road, Hudgins, VA 23076
The modern 4,239-square-foot facility replaces four outdated structures and provides improved quality of life for assigned crews with dedicated male and female locker rooms with showers, administrative offices, dedicated boatswain mate and machinery technician shops, and a 50-foot enclosed boat bay that protects the unit’s vessels from the elements year-round.
This ceremony also marks the completion of an eight-month construction project to upgrade the unit’s buoys to state-of-the-art foam buoys to optimize the fleet, allowing the crew to service these navigational aids with a smaller vessel, ensuring the Coast Guard is more agile and responsive.
ANT Milford Haven is a specialized unit responsible for maintaining buoys, lighthouses, and markers, from Smith Point to Poquoson and Middle Chesapeake Bay, ensuring the safety and security of the Maritime Transportation System.
