Coast Guard Cutter Bertholf arrives in Singapore

U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Bertholf (WMSL 750) and crew arrived in Singapore, Feb. 25, after transiting more than 8,000 nautical miles over 30 days from San Diego, Calif.

Following efforts with Kiribati partners, the USCGC Oliver Henry (WPC 1140) crew conduct the next leg of their expeditionary patrol on Feb. 20 to 27, 2024, spending time in Majuro, Wotje Atoll, and the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) working with partners, underscoring commitment to maritime security and international cooperation regionally. Underway in support of Operation Blue Pacific, the cutter crew showcased the effectiveness of the U.S. and RMI maritime bilateral agreement, conducting a shared patrol with shipriders emphasizing collaborative efforts in maritime safety, security, and stewardship in terms of resource protection. The Coast Guard and a good Samaritan vessel rescued two mariners Monday, approximately 1,120 miles southeast of Bermuda.

US Coast Guard Cutter Forward returns home to Virginia after lifesaving deployment

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The crew of the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Forward (WMEC 911) returned to their homeport in Portsmouth, Sunday, following a 75-day patrol of the Windward Passage. During the patrol, Forward’s crew intercepted five unlawful migrant voyages and rescued 33 migrants from one vessel taking on water. Forward provided essential life-saving equipment, to include personal flotation devices and dewatering equipment, to the migrants aboard.

The crew of U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Vigilant (WMEC 617) conducts small boat operations for parts retrieval, Feb. 1, 2024, in the Caribbean Sea. Deploying in support of Joint Interagency Task Force-South, Vigilant worked alongside other Coast Guard cutters, Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security units, and international partners to conduct maritime safety and security missions.

US Coast Guard rescues 2, assists in interdicting 1,200 pounds of cocaine during Caribbean deployment

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — The crew of the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Vigilant (WMEC 617) returned home to Cape Canaveral, Sunday, following a 60-day patrol in the Central and Eastern Caribbean. Deploying in support of Joint Interagency Task Force-South, Vigilant worked alongside other Coast Guard cutters, Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security units, and international partners to conduct maritime safety and security missions. Vigilant deterred illegal drug smuggling and directly contributed to U.S. Coast Guard and national objectives to combat transnational criminal organizations.

Coast Guard rescues 5 boaters near Marco Island

CLEARWATER, Fla. — A Coast Guard Station Fort Myers Beach boat crew and Coast Guard Air Station Miami HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew rescued five boaters, Sunday, after their 30-foot vessel suffered reported mechanical issues 23 miles southwest of Marco Island.

In a display of interagency cooperation, a commercial mariner in urgent need of medical care was safely evacuated from a vessel 100 nautical miles offshore to Guam on March 2, 2024, thanks to the actions of the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Navy's Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25 (HSC-25). Responders initiated the operation after a 26-year-old Filipino mariner aboard the 850-foot Liberian-flagged container ship Carmell 1, initially located 400 nautical miles northwest of Guam, reportedly exhibited severe abdominal issues. U.S. Coast Guard, Navy Helicopter Squadron execute critical medical evacuation of Filipino mariner northwest of Guam

SANTA RITA, Guam — In a display of interagency cooperation, a commercial mariner in urgent need of medical care was safely evacuated from his vessel 100 nautical miles offshore to Guam on March 2, 2024, thanks to the actions of the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Navy's Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25 (HSC-25). "Our collective efforts today, closely following another recent rescue, underscore our enduring commitment to mariner safety. The partnership between the U.S. Coast Guard, HSC-25, and local agencies like Guam Fire Rescue is pivotal in ensuring the well-being of those at sea," said Cmdr. Ryan Crose, the case's search and rescue mission coordinator at U.S. Coast Guard Forces Micronesia/Sector Guam. "Search and rescue is a priority mission for us, covering an expansive Search and Rescue Region of 1.9 million square miles. The only way to effectively cover such a vast area is through robust partnerships."
