NEW YORK – The unified command consisting of the Coast Guard, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, New York City Department of Environmental Protection, New York City Office of Emergency Management, and Monmouth County Department of Health, received oil sample lab results from the Coast Guard Marine Safety Laboratory Friday, linking together oil spill cleanup efforts in both New York and New Jersey. Click here for more...

Coast Guard Sector San Diego emphasizes the importance of safety during the San Diego holiday parade of lights

SAN DIEGO — The Coast Guard emphasizes the importance of caution and boating safety practices during San Diego's holiday parade of lights event in San Diego Harbor on Sunday. This event attracts many vessels and spectators, creating inherent hazards for both participants and onlookers. Those who choose to watch the event from the water should exercise extreme caution, remain aware of their surroundings and the increasing vessel traffic, and ensure that all navigation lights are on, and proper safety equipment is onboard.

U.S. Coast Guard conducts security boarding at Port of Guam, bolstering maritime security

SANTA RITA, Guam — The U.S. Coast Guard Sector Boarding Team, a key component of U.S. Coast Guard Forces Micronesia/Sector Guam, conducted a thorough security boarding of the 380-foot (116-meter) motor vessel Papa Mau, flagged from Antigua Barbuda, at the Port of Guam on Dec. 6, 2023. This general cargo vessel, arriving from Pohnpei in the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), was meticulously inspected upon reaching Guam and found to be in full compliance.

MULTIMEDIA RELEASE: Coast Guard crew offloads more than $239 million worth of cocaine in San Diego  

SAN DIEGO — The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Waesche (WMSL 751) offloads approximately 18,219 pounds of cocaine, with an estimated street value of more than $239 million, on Wednesday in San Diego.  The offload is a result of six separate suspected drug smuggling vessel interdictions or events off the coasts of Mexico and Central and South America by the Coast Guard Cutters Waesche and Active in November.

The Unified Command continues to monitor and respond to an oil discharge near the Main Pass Oil Gathering (MPOG) company's pipeline system, known as the MPOG 11015 incident, near Plaquemines Parish, southeast of New Orleans.
