Coast Guard, Monterey Fire and North County Fire Protection District rescue 5 from boat fire near Moss Landing

The Coast Guard, Monterey Fire and North County Fire Protection District rescued five from a boat fire and prevented significant pollution in the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary and Salinas River National Wildlife Refuge area, Monday near Moss Landing. All five persons were evacuated from the boat by a Coast Guard 47-foot Motor Lifeboat (MLB) from Station Monterey while Monterey Fire Boat 12 provided firefighting water.

Barco Eagle de la Guardia Costera de EE.UU. visitará San Juan, Puerto Rico

El barco Eagle (WIX 327) de la Guardia Costera de EE.UU. llegará a San Juan, Puerto Rico, el viernes 14 de junio a las 10 a.m.  Eagle atracará en el Muelle 3 del Viejo San Juan, dónde visitantes podrán subir abordo y hacer recorridos gratuitos de la embarcación a partir de esa misma tarde.  "Estamos encantados de tener la oportunidad de traer a Eagle de visita a San Juan, Puerto Rico, y esperamos que la gente venga a presenciar la entrada del barco al Puerto de San Juan", dijo la Capitán de Navío Jessica Rozzi-Ochs, oficial al mando del Barco Eagle de la Guardia Costera. "Estamos orgullosos de continuar nuestra larga tradición de compartir la historia de Eagle, un patrimonio nacional de la Guardia Costera, con la gente de Puerto Rico.”

Operation Irensia: A new chapter in Pacific maritime cooperation

SANTA RITA, Guam — In a display of regional unity and maritime prowess, U.S. Coast Guard Forces Micronesia and Base Guam hosted the inaugural Operation Irensia from June 3-9, 2024, at Apra Harbor, Guam. This landmark event, the successful inaugural Operation Irensia, was a testament to the unity and cooperation among Pacific Island nations and allied forces. It also coincided with World Oceans Week. The culmination of two years of meticulous planning and coordination, the operation brought together the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of Palau, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and Australia in a shared commitment to preserving the security and prosperity of the Pacific region. Operation Irensia, meaning 'heritage' in Chamorro, symbolizes a shared commitment to preserving the security and prosperity of the Pacific region through enhanced interoperability and cooperative engagement. The operation featured participants from the Republic of Palau with their Guardian-class Patrol Boat (GPB) PSS President HI Remeliik II (001) and the Federated States of Micronesia with their GPB FSS Bethwel Henry (P902) and the Republic of the Marshall Islands with their Pacific-class RMIS Lomor (03), alongside the USCGC Oliver Henry (WPC 1140) and USCGC Frederick Hatch (WPC 1143), and members of Forces Micronesia and Base Guam.

Coast Guard transfers 109 migrants to Bahamas, repatriates 196 migrants to Haiti

MIAMI – U.S. Coast Guard crews returned a combined 305 migrants to the Bahamas and Haiti, Sunday and Monday, following multiple interdictions of unlawful maritime migration attempts over the last week in support of Operation Vigilant Sentry.

Coast Guard, good Samaritan boater rescues 6 persons and one dog in Lake Tahoe

The Coast Guard and a good Samaritan boater rescued six persons and a dog from Lake Tahoe near Carnelian Bay, Sunday. The good Samaritan boater rescued four persons and the dog, while a Coast Guard crew aboard a 29-foot Response Boat-small from Station Lake Tahoe rescued two persons.

Coast Guard Barque Eagle to visit San Juan, Puerto Rico for public tours

The U.S. Coast Guard Barque Eagle (WIX 327) is scheduled to arrive in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Friday, June 14th, at 10 a.m., and will be open for free public tours through Sunday. The Eagle is scheduled to moor at Pier 3 in Old San Juan, where it will begin hosting public tours in the afternoon. “We are thrilled for Eagle’s visit to San Juan, Puerto Rico, and look forward to people seeing the ship’s arrival in San Juan Harbor,” said Capt. Jessica Rozzi-Ochs Coast Guard Barque Eagle’s commanding officer. “We are proud to continue our long-standing tradition of sharing the history and heritage of Eagle and the Coast Guard with the people of Puerto Rico.”

MEDIA AVAILABILITY: US Coast Guard Cutter Calhoun to hold change-of-command ceremony

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Calhoun (WMSL 759) is scheduled to hold a change-of-command ceremony, Tuesday, at 10 a.m. in North Charleston.  During the ceremony, Capt. Matthew Hammond will relieve Capt. Timothy Sommella as commanding officer of Calhoun. U.S. Coast Guard Atlantic Area Commander, Vice Adm. Nathan Moore, will preside over the ceremony.

U.S., Japan, and Korea Coast Guards Conduct Trilateral Operations

MAIZURU, Japan - U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Waesche (WMSL 751) departed Maizuru, Japan, June 6, following several engagements with the Japan Coast Guard, Republic of Korea Coast Guard and multiple Japanese dignitaries. Once underway, the Waesche, the Japan Coast Guard vessel Wakasa (PL 93), and the Republic of Korea Coast Guard patrol vessel Taepyongyang (KCG 3016) conducted a joint search and rescue exercise at sea.
