Advisory: Mission Bay Channel Temporary Safety Zone

SAN DIEGO — Due to hazardous weather conditions, Coast Guard Sector San Diego has established a temporary safety zone  for the navigable waters of Mission Bay Channel. At this time, entry in and out of Mission Bay is prohibited unless authorized by the Captain of the Port.

Rear Adm. Cari Thomas visits the U.S. Coast Guard team in Guam, reaffirms how CGMA serves members

SANTA RITA, Guam — Rear Adm. Cari Thomas (retired), chief executive officer of Coast Guard Mutual Assistance (CGMA), made her way to Guam, the first week in December 2023 to spend time with the U.S. Coast Guard team.  This visit underscores the commitment of CGMA to support its members and their families, especially those stationed in remote locations like Guam. "Caring for our Coast Guard family is not just a duty; it's a heartfelt commitment that gains depth and meaning when we meet face-to-face. Seeing our members and their families firsthand, hearing their stories, and understanding their challenges reinforces the importance of our mission at CGMA," said Rear Adm. Thomas.

U.S. Coast Guard aids stranded vessel Rascal off Tanguisson Beach, Guam, on Christmas weekend

SANTA RITA, Guam — In a successful search and rescue operation executed by U.S. Coast Guard Forces Micronesia/Sector Guam and Guam Fire Rescue, the recreational vessel Rascal, with six adults aboard, was safely towed to Hagåtña Boat Basin after being disabled and adrift off Tanguisson Beach, Dec. 23, 2023. "This case underscores the importance of being prepared and calling for help at the first sign of trouble at sea," said Petty Officer 2nd Class Will Naden, the coxswain of CG 45753. "Our timely response was crucial, but equally important was the crew of Rascal's swift decision to contact us. Navigating through winds of 18-20 knots and 7-foot seas, our team demonstrated skill and coordination, ensuring a safe outcome."

U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Seneca returns from Western Caribbean and Eastern Pacific patrol in support of maritime safety and security missions

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The crew of U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Seneca (WMEC 906) returned home to Portsmouth, Friday, following a 65-day patrol in the Western Caribbean and Eastern Pacific Ocean.    Patrolling in support of Joint Interagency Task Force-South, Seneca worked alongside other Coast Guard cutters, Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security units, and international partners to conduct maritime safety and security missions.

UPDATE: Unified Command concludes Western Maui Wildfire Emergency Support Function #10 operations 

HONOLULU – State and federal responders with the U.S. Coast Guard Western Maui Wildfire Emergency Support Function #10 (ESF #10) Unified Command, comprised of U.S. Coast Guard, Hawaii Department of Health (DOH), and the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation (DLNR-DOBOR) announced on 18 December 2023 the final stage of operations in Lāhainā Harbor.
