Unified Command locates debris field near Titanic, continues ROV search efforts
BOSTON – A remotely operated vehicle (ROV) discovered a debris field Thursday, approximately 1,600 feet off the bow of the Titanic. The ROV deployed to the Canadian vessel Horizon Arctic, discovered the tail section of the 21-foot submersible, Titan, that went missing Sunday. Experts from within the unified command are evaluating the imagery and debris while continuing ROV’s search efforts near the Titanic to locate additional portions of the Titan. USCGC Bear (WMEC 901) returns home following 65-day deployment
PORTSMOUTH, Va. – The USCGC Bear (WMEC 910) returned home to Coast Guard Base Portsmouth, Thursday, following a 65-day Caribbean Sea patrol. While underway in the Seventh Coast Guard District’s area of responsibility and in support of Joint Interagency Task Force–South, Bear conducted six counterdrug interdictions and seized a total of 8,558 pounds of cocaine worth an estimated $97 million.
