Departments of State, Homeland Security host Haitian journalists in Florida to report on maritime migration
MIAMI – Five journalists from Haitian media outlets visited south Florida last month for a week of scheduled engagements coordinated by the U.S. Embassy staff in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and the Homeland Security Task Force – Southeast staff.

Coast Guard to participate in public events, establish security zone for Portland Rose Festival
PORTLAND, Ore. – Coast Guard crews are scheduled to participate in multiple events throughout the Portland area for the annual Portland Rose Festival from June 7-11. The crews of the Cutters Elm, Bailey Barco, Bluebell and Orcas will provide public tours of the cutters throughout the weekend while moored on the Willamette River at the end of SW Ash Street. An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station Astoria is scheduled to conduct a search and rescue demonstration Saturday, June 10, in the Willamette River near the end of SW Ash Street, at approximately 2:15p.m.

The Coast Guard is responding to a reported fire aboard the on the 178-foot passenger vessel Wilderness Discoverer in Glacier Bay, National Park, Alaska. The fire has been extinguished and all 51 passengers along with 16 crewmembers were safely disembarked aboard the cruise ship Sapphire Princess.
