Coast Guard conducts waterways analysis study of Tillamook Bay, seeks public comment

SEATTLE — Coast Guard officials are seeking public comment while conducting a waterways analysis and management system (WAMS) review of Tillamook Bay, Ore. The Coast Guard uses WAMS to validate the adequacy of the existing aids to navigation (ATON) system, as well as to get a better understanding of the uses of each waterway and general safety issues.

Coast Guard Cutter Active returns home following a 76-day counternarcotics patrol in the Eastern Pacific

PORT ANGELES, Wash. — The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Active (WMEC 618) and crew returned to Port Angeles following a 76-day, 12,000-mile counternarcotics patrol in the equatorial Eastern Pacific Ocean. In February, the cutter and crew departed Port Angeles to operate on behalf of Joint -Interagency Task Force South (JIATF-S), a multi-national and multi-agency task force designed to detect and deter transnational organized criminal activity operating in international waters off the coasts of North and Central America.

Coast Guard interdicts makeshift vessel, returns 40 migrants to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - The Coast Guard Cutter Kathleen Moore returned 40 migrants to the Dominican Republic between Tuesday and Wednesday, following the interdiction of an illegal voyage vessel in Mona Passage waters near Puerto Rico. The interdiction is the result of ongoing local and federal multi-agency efforts in support of the Caribbean Border Interagency Group (CBIG).

Coast Guard Cutter Stratton holds change of command

HONOLULU – The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Stratton (WMSL 752) command held a change of command ceremony, Monday, at Base Honolulu, presided over by Rear Adm. Matthew Sibley, Pacific Area deputy commander.Capt. Brian Krautler relieved Capt. Stephen Adler as the new commanding officer of the Stratton.

MEDIA AVAILABILITY: Third New England-based Fast Response Cutter to arrive in Boston

BOSTON — Coast Guard Cutter Maurice Jester (WPC-1152) is scheduled to arrive Wednesday, following a transit from Key West. The newly-built Maurice Jester was accepted by the Coast Guard on March 2, and will be one of six new Fast Response Cutters homeported in Boston. The cutter's arrival will include a water salute from the Boston Fire Department and air escort by an Air Station Cape Cod, Mass., MH-60 Jayhawk crew. USCGC Oliver Henry returns to Guam after strengthening partnerships in Oceania during mission to combat illegal fishing in Pacific

SANTA RITA, Guam —The crew of USCGC Oliver Henry (WPC 1140) returned to Guam on April 9, 2023, following a 30-day expeditionary patrol in support of the Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency's Operation 365 and Operation Rematau to stop illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing in the Pacific.
