USCG Releases Guidance to Local Harbor Safety Committees

RADM Wayne Arguin, Assistant Commandant for Prevention Policy, has signed a new Navigation and Vessel Inspection Circular to provide guidance to public and private stakeholders participating in local Harbor Safety Committees to improve and enhance local coordination of Marine Transportation System issues

U.S. Department of Transportation’s SafeMTS Program

The purpose of this Maritime Commons notice is to promote awareness of a pilot program, SafeMTS, recently launched by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), to improve safety for vessel crew members and passengers on the Maritime Transportation System (MTS).

Sexual assault and sexual harassment have no place in the maritime industry and the Coast Guard is committed to investigating all reports. Mariners and aspiring mariners have the right to work in an environment free from the fear of being sexually assaulted or sexually harassed. Opens in a new window.
