The Coast Guard suspended its active search for a missing boater Wednesday at 8:15 p.m. off the coast of North Carolina. Missing is Jeffrey Kale, 47, from Clover, South Carolina.

US Coast Guard Cutter Dependable celebrated for 56 years’ service during heritage recognition ceremony

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — The Coast Guard held a heritage recognition ceremony Tuesday in Virginia Beach to honor the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Dependable (WMEC 626) and its 56 years of service to the Nation. The ceremony, which served to celebrate the Dependable’s legacy, underscored the cutter’s reputational motto, “Count on Us - Credibility Built on Excellence,” in the presence of cutter leadership, current and former crew members, families, and friends.

U.S. Coast Guard, regional partners launch Oil Spill Task Force in Majuro

MAJURO, Republic of the Marshall Islands — In a landmark collaboration, five Hawaii-based active duty members of the U.S. Coast Guard's 14th District and the Marine Environmental Response team from the newly established Regional Activities Center, alongside a scientific support coordinator from the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA), joined forces with the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) and the Republic of the Marshall Islands Environmental Protection Authority (RMIEPA) to initiate an Oil Spill Task Force in Majuro the first week of April 2024. Over the course of a productive week, the team made significant progress in developing a National Contingency Plan for the Marshall Islands.

UPDATE 2: Coast Guard resumes search for missing boater off North Carolina coast

The Coast Guard has resumed its search for a missing boater Tuesday off the coast of North Carolina.  A good Samaritan located a vessel matching the description of the boat Jeffery Kale was aboard, nearly 83 miles east of Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina.

Coast Guard, Corpus Christi Fire Department rescue 3 from water in Nueces Bay, Texas

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Coast Guard and Corpus Christi Fire Department rescued three men after their boat capsized in Nueces Bay near Corpus Christi Monday.
