Coast Guard rescues man from capsized skiff in Corpus Christi,Texas

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Coast Guard rescued an adult man in the water from a capsized skiff in Redfish Bay in Corpus Christi, Texas, Tuesday afternoon.

The safety zone for all navigable waters of the Chesapeake Bay within a 2000-yard radius of a hatch cover with an estimated position of 39.20692 N 76.51733 W has been discontinued.

The safety zone for all navigable waters of the Chesapeake Bay within a 500-yard radius of the vessel W-SAPPHIRE anchored in position 39.02333 N 76.36833 W, Figure 01, remains in effect.

A draft restriction of a maximum navigational draft of 46.6-feet for all vessels transiting within a 500-yards radius of the location of the hatch cover in position of 39.20865 N 076.52017 W, Figure 02, has been established due to it’s depth of 49.7-feet at MLL.

An intermittent safety zone for all navigable waters of the Chesapeake Bay within a 500-yard radius of the location ofthe hatch cover from the vessel W-SAPPHIRE in position of 39.20865 N 076.52017 W, Figure 02, will be activated during dive and salvage operations.

Coast Guard East District units prepare for Hurricane Erin

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Crews around the Coast Guard’s East District are preparing for the potential impacts of Hurricane Erin, Tuesday. Aircrews, cutters, boat crews, and command centers across the region are actively staging and preparing to respond to any potential impacts from the storm.

The Patapsco River has been closed to all vessel traffic between position coordinates 39°11.70'N, 076°31.71'W, near Swan Creek, and 39°12.6'N, 076°29.74'W, near Sparrows Point, and extending up to the former location of the Francis Scott Key Bridge, Aug 18, 2025. The closure was due to debris from an explosion on the M/V W-Sapphire.

Coast Guard urges caution to offshore mariners and beachgoers as Hurricane Erin expected to remain offshore

NEW YORK — While Hurricane Erin is currently forecasted to track well off the coasts of New York and New Jersey, the Coast Guard is urging mariners operating offshore and beachgoers to exercise caution as the storm passes. Although inshore waters of the Port of New York and New Jersey are not expected to be impacted, the storm is expected to generate hazardous conditions offshore and along the coast from Tuesday through Friday. Coast Guard interdicts 7 aliens off Newport Beach, Calif.

LOS ANGELES — The Coast Guard interdicts seven aliens aboard a 20-foot vessel off the coast of Newport Beach, Calif., Saturday night. At approximately 9 p.m., watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles–Long Beach received a report from a Station Los Angeles Long Beach boat crew on a routine patrol of a 20-foot vessel with seven people aboard. The Coast Guard boat crew stopped the vessel to conduct a boarding.
