Coast Guard terminates 9 illegal passenger-for-hire operations, 2 vessel voyages for boating under the influence in Puerto Rico

Coast Guard Sector San Juan crews, working with local law enforcement units Thursday through Sunday, terminated nine illegal passenger-for-hire operations for marine safety violations and two recreational voyages for boating under the influence in Puerto Rico. These law enforcement actions were carried out in support of Operation Dry Water national efforts throughout the 4th of July weekend. During the operation, participating units conducted 50 boardings and issued 94 safe boating violations, 14 warnings and seven Captain of the Port Orders.

SAN DIEGO – Coast Guard Station San Diego interdicted seven suspected aliens aboard a 20-foot vessel approximately 7.5 miles west of Sunset Cliffs, Monday.
At approximately 12:37 a.m., Coast Guard Sector San Diego watch-standers received a call from San Diego Lifeguards for a disabled vessel reporting it had been stranded for several hours.
Coast Guard Cutter David Duren was diverted to the vessel to investigate. The David Duren’s boarding team discovered seven suspected aliens aboard the vessel, two of whom were minors.
Four of the seven individuals had identification, six claimed Mexican nationality, and one claimed Chilean nationality. All seven suspected aliens were taken into custody.
The vessel and the suspected aliens were transported to Ballast Point to be transferred to the custody of Imperial Beach Border Patrol.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The crew of Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville is scheduled to hold a change of command ceremony, Wednesday, at the Jacksonville Public Library.

SEATTLE - The Coast Guard Cutter Barque Eagle, also known as "America's Tall Ship", arrived in Elliott Bay, Wash., today to make a one day stopover on its way to participate in the Tall Ships Tacoma 2008 event in Tacoma, Wash. The Eagle's crew has spent this summer training more than 130 Coast Guard Academy cadets and Naval Academy midshipmen. The Eagle has served as a floating classroom to future Coast Guard officers since 1946 offering fundamental leadership, teamwork and seamanship skills.
