U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Midgett holds change of command ceremony
HONOLULU — The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Midgett (WMSL 757) held a change of command ceremony, Thursday, on Coast Guard Base Honolulu. Rear Adm. Brendan McPherson, deputy commander of U.S. Coast Guard Pacific Area, presided over the ceremony in which Capt. Matthew Rooney relieved Capt. Willie Carmichael as Midgett’s commanding officer.
Coast Guard requests public information after laser strike hits Tillamook Bay boatcrew
The Coast Guard is requesting information from the public in locating a suspect or suspects who pointed a green laser light into the eyes of a Coast Guard Station Tillamook Bay boatcrew member west of the Tillamook Bay entrance Wednesday evening. Around 10:45 p.m., the 47-foot Motor Lifeboat crew reported that a laser was shined into the eyes of one of the boatcrew members while the vessel was conducting training operations approximately one mile offshore northwest of the Tillamook Bay North Jetty.

Coast Guard assists mariner aboard disabled vessel, safely tows mariner to shore
SAN PEDRO, Calif. – Personnel from U.S. Coast Guard Station Channel Islands assisted one person aboard a disabled recreational boat in the vicinity of Port Hueneme, Wednesday morning. The mariner, situated approximately 3 nautical miles south of Port Hueneme, had alerted nearby M/V WMT by flashing S.O.S, indicating a need for assistance. The distressed mariner had been stranded for more than 24 hours without any means of communication.
