Marine Safety Information Bulletin (MSIB) 05-26: Maritime Security Program (MSP) Select Eligibility

Aug. 31, 2026 | By Assistant Commandant for Prevention Policy (CG-5P)

The Coast Guard recently released Marine Safety Information Bulletin (MSIB) 05-26: Maritime Security Program (MSP) Select Eligibility. This bulletin streamlines the process for foreign-built ships to be certificated under the American Registry without compromising safety. These efforts support executive actions as well as the national policy for the U.S. Merchant Marine to carry waterborne commerce at all times and to serve as a naval auxiliary during national contingencies. Please see the full bulletin for details. For this, and other USCG MSIBs, please visit the Marine Safety Information Bulletins page at: https://navcen.uscg.gov/msib-national
