JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The crew of Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville held a change of command ceremony, Wednesday, at the Jacksonville Public Library.
Coast Guard, Puerto Rico Police crews rescue 6 kite surfers off Ocean Park Beach in San Juan, Puerto Rico
Coast Guard and Puerto Rico Police marine units rescued six kite surfers who were beset by weather off Ocean Park Beach in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Tuesday evening. Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector San Juan’s Command Center received report at 5:17 p.m., Tuesday, of a group of kite surfers who were left adrift, between one to two miles offshore, after their kites reportedly failed due to a sudden drop of wind throughout the area. No injuries or medical concerns were reported in this case.

Coast Guard terminates 9 illegal passenger-for-hire operations, 2 vessel voyages for boating under the influence in Puerto Rico
Coast Guard Sector San Juan crews, working with local law enforcement units Thursday through Sunday, terminated nine illegal passenger-for-hire operations for marine safety violations and two recreational voyages for boating under the influence in Puerto Rico. These law enforcement actions were carried out in support of Operation Dry Water national efforts throughout the 4th of July weekend. During the operation, participating units conducted 50 boardings and issued 94 safe boating violations, 14 warnings and seven Captain of the Port Orders.
