LOS ANGELES — The Coast Guard interdicts seven aliens aboard a 20-foot vessel off the coast of Newport Beach, Calif., Saturday night.
At approximately 9 p.m., watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles–Long Beach received a report from a Station Los Angeles Long Beach boat crew on a routine patrol of a 20-foot vessel with seven people aboard. The Coast Guard boat crew stopped the vessel to conduct a boarding.
During the boarding, the crew identified seven suspected aliens aboard and discovered water intrusion in the bilge. They secured the flooding source and initiated a tow.
The group of aliens consisted of five adult males and two adult females, all with no reported injuries or medical concerns. Three were confirmed Mexican nationals, and the remaining four are suspected Mexican nationals.
All seven aliens and the vessel were transferred to Department of Homeland Security partners.
