BALTIMORE — The U.S. Coast Guard concluded maritime safety and security operations for Sail250 Maryland on Tuesday in Baltimore.
Throughout the event, the Coast Guard worked alongside local, state, and federal partners to ensure the safety and security of mariners, participating vessels, and the hundreds of thousands of spectators who attended the celebration.
"The success of Sail250 Maryland reflects the strong partnerships that made this event possible," said Capt. Patrick Burkett, commander of Coast Guard Sector Maryland-National Capital Region. "The Coast Guard is proud to have worked alongside our federal, state, and local partners to ensure the safety and security of everyone on the water. Thanks to the professionalism and dedication of our crews and partner agencies, visitors were able to safely enjoy this historic celebration."
The festival featured military vessels and tall ships from the United States and partner nations, including America's Tall Ship, Coast Guard Cutter Eagle (WIX 327).
Following its stop in Maryland, the maritime festival continues to New York, the fourth Sail250 port of call, as part of the nationwide commemoration of America's 250th anniversary.
