SAN DIEGO — Two Coast Guard Maritime Safety and Security Team (MSST) boat crews interdicted nine suspected aliens aboard a 24-foot vessel offshore Coronado Island, Sunday.
At 4:47 p.m., a U.S. Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations aircrew reported a suspected rendezvous between a panga and the vessel near the northernmost point of Coronado Island.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector San Diego’s Joint Harbor Operations Center vectored both MSST crews to intercept the vessel. Boarding team members identified nine suspected aliens aboard, all claiming Mexican nationality.
All nine aliens were transferred to U.S. Border Patrol personnel at Ballast Point.
