Coast Guard interdicts 3 aliens near Point Loma

SAN DIEGO — A Coast Guard boarding team assigned to the 87-foot Marine Protector-Class Coast Guard Cutter Narwhal (WPB-87335) interdicted three suspected aliens approximately 5 miles offshore of Point Loma, Thursday.

 

At approximately 4 p.m., watchstanders at the Joint Harbor Operations Center received notification of a suspicious vessel crossing the maritime boundary line near Point Loma and diverted the Narwhal boarding team to investigate.

 

Boarding team members approached the vessel and gained compliance without the use of force.

 

During the boarding, three suspected aliens were identified, all claiming Mexican nationality.

 

All aliens were detained and transferred to U.S. Border Patrol agents by at Ballast Point.
