Coast Guard interdicts 4 aliens near Point Loma

U.S. Coast Guard Southwest District Phone: (206) 815-6689

SAN DIEGO — A Coast Guard boarding team assigned to Maritime Safety and Security Team San Francisco (MSST 91105) interdicted four suspected aliens approximately 5 miles offshore of Point Loma, Wednesday.

At 4:01 p.m., watchstanders at the Joint Harbor Operations Center received a report of a suspicious 20-foot vessel transiting north toward Mission Bay and diverted MSST 91105 to investigate.

Boarding team members approached the vessel and gained compliance without the use of force.

During the boarding, four suspected aliens were identified, all claiming Mexican nationality.

All aliens were detained and transferred to U.S. Border Patrol agents at Ballast Point.
