Coast Guard interdicts 24 aliens 20 miles southwest of Point Loma, Calif.

SAN DIEGO — The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Forrest Rednour (WPC 1129) interdicted 24 suspected aliens aboard a 40-foot sport fisher approximately 20 miles southwest of Point Loma, California, Sunday morning.

At 5:28 a.m. watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector San Diego Joint Harbor Operations Center received notification of an unidentified vessel transiting towards U.S. waters.

The cutter’s boarding team intercepted 24 aliens aboard the vessel. Twenty aliens claimed Mexican nationality, one claimed Canadian nationality, one claimed Argentinian nationality, one claimed Chilean nationality, and one claimed Armenian nationality.

All 24 aliens and the vessel were transported to Ballast Point and transferred to another DHS agency for investigation.
