Coast Guard interdicts 3 aliens off the coast of Imperial Beach, Calif.

U.S. Coast Guard Pacific Southwest Public Affairs: (206) 815-6689

SAN DIEGO — A San Fransico based Coast Guard Maritime Safety and Security Team interdicts three aliens aboard a 20-foot vessel approximately six miles west of Imperial Beach, Saturday.

At approximately 4 p.m., the MSST SF law enforcement team observed a vessel crossing the maritime boundary line with no indication of navigational lighting.

The Coast Guard crew attempted to stop the vessel, which initially complied but then attempted to flee when notified of an impending boarding. The crew employed graduated use-of-force, including two LA-51 warning rounds and three rounds of pepper ball munitions, which eventually gained the boarding team positive control of the vessel.

Two aliens aboard claimed Mexican nationality and one claiming Turkish nationality. All three aliens were apprehended and transferred to the custody of our DHS partners at Ballast Point.
