Coast Guard conducts joint rescue with San Francisco Police Department and Pilot Boat

SAN FRANCISCO — The Coast Guard assisted with the rescue of four boaters after their vessel capsized near San Francisco Sunday morning.

Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector San Francisco Command Center received a notification at approximately 9:30 a.m., from a pilot boat captain of four boaters in need of assistance after their 32-foot pleasure craft capsized near the Golden Gate Bridge.

An Air Station San Francisco MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter aircrew was launched along with a Coast Guard Station Golden Gate 47-foot Motor Lifeboat crew to assist with rescue efforts.

San Francisco Police Department boat crews and a pilot boat arrived on scene and rescued the boaters from the water. They were then transferred aboard the Coast Guard motor lifeboat and taken to Horseshoe Bay where awaiting EMS treated them for signs of hypothermia.

There were no reported injuries to the boaters.
