Welcome to the Coast Guard's Heartland District, located in New Orleans, La.

The Coast Guard’s Heartland District Headquarters in New Orleans is responsible for Coast Guard activities in 26 states. A majority of our activity is from our coastline states including Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and the panhandle of Florida. There are two offices responsible for media relations here. Responders worked tirelessly through the weekend and continue cleanup today in response to the oil spill in Southern Louisiana. Over 116,429 gallons of oily water mix have been recovered to date. Crews work throughout the weekend with over 101,850 gal of oily water collected to date. A 1 nm radius vessel safety zone and a 2 mi, 2,000 ft elevation flight restriction remain in place.
