Federal Register Notice: Multi-Year Certificate of Documentation for Recreational Vessel Owners Final Rule

Nov. 14, 2023

The Coast Guard announced in the Federal Register that we are issuing a final rule for recreational vessel owners to select a recreational vessel endorsement on a Certificate of Documentation (COD) with a validity of 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 years.

The Coast Guard is issuing these updates to the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) to harmonize the requirements of National Defense Authorization Act of 2022, align CFR text with current Coast Guard policy, and provide recreational vessel owners’ statutorily directed option to select the validity period of their COD that best suits their individual needs.

This final rule is effective 12/14/2023.

The full notice and associated documents are available at www.regulations.gov under docket number USCG-2023-0305

For information about this document call or email Mr. Ronald Teague, telephone 304-271-2506, email Ronald.S.Teague@uscg.mil.
