SAN DIEGO – A Coast Guard Cutter David Duren (WPC 1156) boarding team interdicted 15 suspect aliens approximately 16 miles west of San Diego, Friday morning.
At approximately 7:30 p.m. Thursday, a Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations asset detected a panga style vessel transiting north toward the maritime boundary line. Joint Harbor Operations Center watch standers positioned the David Duren and Coast Guard Cutter Haddock (WPB 87347) to intercept the vessel upon crossing the boundary.
At approximately 12:30 a.m. David Duren members boarded the vessel and detained all 15 individuals aboard identified as suspected aliens.
The crew transported all 15 individuals to Ballast Point, where they were transferred to U.S. Border Patrol agents.
