MEDIA ADVISORY: Coast Guard Training Center Yorktown to host media day showcasing training, operations

YORKTOWN, Va. – Coast Guard Training Center will host a media day on August 28, to showcase their training and operations.

Who: Capt. Scott Rae, commanding officer of TRACEN Yorktown and Coast Guardsmen

What: Behind-the-scenes opportunity for media

When: Friday, August 28, 2026, 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. (Media should arrive by 7 a.m. for security processing and a safety briefing.)

Where: 1 U.S. Coast Guard Training Center, Yorktown, VA 23690. Media staging in Thayer Hall in the Cuyahoga Conference Room.

This event offers local and regional media outlets a rare and educational opportunity to receive a tour of the training center, observe various training demonstrations and a graduation, enjoy lunch at the dining facility, and end the tour with a questions-and-answers session with Capt. Scott Rae, commanding officer of TRACEN Yorktown.

Additionally, media attending the event will have the opportunity to capture imagery during the visit and receive a media kit containing command biographies, event itinerary, a fact sheet, and access to high resolution photos/videos.

Please note: Due to installation security regulations, all media representatives must present valid government-issued Real ID or US Passport and official press credentials upon arrival. All equipment is subject to search.
