HONOLULU — The U.S. Coast Guard Captain of the Port (COTP) Honolulu has reopened all commercial ports across the state of Hawaii as of 4 p.m. Aug. 16, following the passage of Tropical Storm Lala.
All commercial ports have been assessed and are open to normal commercial vessel traffic and operations in Honolulu, Maui, Kauai and Hawaii counties.
“While all commercial ports across the state are open to vessel traffic, our priority remains supporting post-storm recovery efforts and ensuring the safety of our maritime community,” said Cmdr. Jeffrey Padilla, Acting Captain of the Port. “We urge mariners and the public to exercise caution. There are still strong winds, rain, large waves and flood watches in place for many areas. Remain aware of potential hazards and give recovery crews the space they need to safely restore our communities and waterways. Mariners are requested to immediately report hazards to navigation to the Sector Honolulu Command Center at 1-800-552-6458."
Mariners should monitor VHF-FM channels 16 and 22A for Broadcast Notices to Mariners.
