TUSCON, Ariz. — The Coast Guard is scheduled to hold a grand opening ceremony for the new Coast Guard Tucson Recruiting office Saturday as part of Force Design workforce initiatives.
Presiding official for the grand opening will be Capt. Jay W. Guyer, commander of Coast Guard Accessions Service Center. Guyer will preside over a swear in ceremony for new Coast Guard recruits.
The Tucson Recruiting office will serve as a regional hub to engage communities across Southern Arizona, connecting individuals with opportunities in active duty and reserve positions in the Coast Guard.
“The mission of Recruiting Office Tucson is dedicated to advancing the Coast Guard's operational missions by reaching and recruiting qualified, enthusiastic individuals,” said Chief Petty Officer Joanna Adams, Recruiting Office Tucson recruiter-in-charge. “We aim to enrich our community by offering career opportunities that positively impact the lives of our applicants. We are grateful to our community for welcoming us with open arms, inviting us into your schools to engage with your students, and entrusting our service with this opportunity.”
The Coast Guard recruiters in Tucson, prior to the grand opening, have helped more than 90 individuals either join the Service or begin the process of joining the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard has recruited more than 5,200 new members and has met its recruiting goals for the second year in a row.
