U.S. Coast Guard Southwest District Public Affairs: (206) 815-6689

SAN FRANCISCO – The Coast Guard medevaced an ailing cruise ship passenger 45 miles offshore Humboldt Bay Thursday.

An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Humboldt Bay hoisted a 51-year-old woman and brought her safely to Mendocino Coast Hospital in Fort Bragg, California.

The woman was reportedly in stable condition.

Coast Guard Sector Humboldt Bay watchstanders received a notification at 5:10 p.m. Thursday from a crew member of the Carnival Luminosa, a Bahamian-flagged cruise ship, requesting a medevac for a passenger experiencing symptoms of a stroke.
