This project will rebuild the crosswind runway at one of the largest Coast Guard aviation bases on the East Coast. Construction will take place while the primary runway remains fully open, ensuring no interruption to 24/7 aviation missions.
"Restoring Runway 1-19 is a critical step in strengthening the Coast Guard’s operational readiness at one of our nation’s most important aviation hubs,” said Rear Adm. Zeita Merchant, commander, Coast Guard East District. “A functional second runway gives our aircrews the flexibility to launch when conditions change rapidly and ensures we remain ready to respond the moment we are needed."
Media RSVP
To confirm attendance or request base access, media must RSVP by 3 p.m. Monday by contacting East Coast Guard District Public Affairs at eastdistrictpublicaffairs@uscg.mil
A full press release with imagery, remarks, and event highlights will be distributed immediately following the ceremony.
