MIAMI – A U.S. Coast Guard Station Miami Beach boat crew rescued two men, four miles east of Elliot Key, Sunday, after both individuals reportedly drifted away from their vessel near Ceasar Creek.
No injuries were reported.
Crew members aboard tug vessel Allie B notified Coast Guard Sector Miami watchstanders at approximately 7:30 a.m., reporting two individuals drifting four miles offshore of Elliot Key without life jackets on. The Station Miami Beach rescue crew arrived on scene at approximately 8:10 a.m., and located both men in stable condition.
“We are grateful we were able to bring these mariners home safe to their families today,” said Petty Officer 2nd Class Timothy Fiala, a Station Miami Beach boat crew member. “We want to remind all mariners of the importance of having a proper life jacket for each person aboard your vessel and how it could play a critical role in saving the life of you or your loved ones.”
