MEDIA AVAILABILITY: Coast Guard Station Annapolis to host National Safe Boating Week media event

What: Media opportunity to speak with subject matter experts for National Safe Boating Week. 

Who: Experts from the U.S. Coast Guard, Maryland Natural Resources Police, and U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Central Chesapeake. 

When: Friday, May 15, 2026, 9:00 - 11:00 AM 

Where: U.S. Coast Guard Station Annapolis. 3425 Thomas Point Rd, Annapolis, MD, 21403 

BALTIMORE — Coast Guard Sector Maryland - National Capital Region, Maryland Natural Resources Police, and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Central Chesapeake are scheduled to hold a media event at Coast Guard Station Annapolis on May 15, 2026, to kick off National Safe Boating Week.

During the event, subject matter experts from the partner agencies will be available for interviews with the media on safe boating best practices and other water safety related topics. 

Coast Guard members will be available to give tours of the station’s grounds and assets. Operations permitting, there may also be an opportunity to see a Coast Guard Station Annapolis response boat crew preform safety drills off the station's pier. 

Maryland Natural Resources Police will also speak about their upcoming safe boating day at Sandy Point State Park which will be open to the public on Saturday, May 16, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

2026 National Safe Boating Week will be held from May 16 to May 22. This observance week is the annual kick-off of the Safe Boating Campaign, a global awareness effort that encourages boaters to make the most of their boating adventure by being responsible.
