MEDIA ADVISORY: Coast Guard and LMPD to offer media ride-along prior to Thunder Over Louisville

WHAT: Pre-event media ride-along

WHEN: Tuesday, April 14, 2026, from 2 p.m. through 3 p.m. EDT

WHO: Coast Guard and LMPD

WHERE: Turquoise Lot, 1331 River Road, Louisville, Kentucky, 40206

LOUISVILLE, KY — The Coast Guard and LMPD will make vessels available for media ride-along on Tuesday, to allow on-water footage for the media and answer questions about Thunder Over Louisville. During the ride-along, Coast Guard personnel will be available to discuss preparations for Thunder Over Louisville and special local regulations that will be in effect during the event including the dates and times of river closures, various operating conditions that boaters could face, and safe boating practices that should be observed year-round.

Media planning to attend should arrive no later than 1:45 p.m. EDT Tuesday at the Turquoise Lot, located at 1331 River Road in Louisville, Kentucky, 40206. If there is interest from the media, boats will be made available to obtain views of the river conditions on the Ohio River. Lifejackets will be provided during the mandatory safety brief.
