U.S. Coast Guard Southwest District Phone: (206) 815-6689

SAN DIEGO — A Coast Guard boarding team interdicted 15 suspected aliens 16 miles offshore San Diego, Friday morning.

At 4:09 a.m., Coast Guard Cutter David Duren (WPC 1156) crew members detected a suspicious vessel and launched a boat crew to investigate.

The vessel, a 30-foot cabin cruiser, attempted to flee, but stopped shortly afterwards with no use of force necessary.

Boarding team members identified 15 suspected aliens aboard, all claiming Mexican nationality.

All 15 aliens were transferred to U.S. Border Patrol personnel at Ballast Point.
