HONOLULU — The Coast Guard and partner agencies are searching for a man in the water offshore Kauai Wednesday.
Missing is Kyle Barrett, 37, who was last seen at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday near the entrance to the Queen’s Bath trailhead on Kauai.
Barrett is 6 feet, 4 inches tall, weighs approximately 210 pounds, and has brown eyes and brown hair. He was last seen wearing a white shirt, dark shorts and sunglasses.
Coast Guard Sector Honolulu command center watchstanders received a notification at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday from Kauai Fire Department personnel of a possible person in the water near Princeville, Kauai.
Watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast and coordinated the launch of a Coast Guard Station Kauai 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew, an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew and an HC-130 Hercules airplane crew from Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point. The Coast Guard Cutter William Hart (WPC 1134) crew also launched for the search.
Coast Guard teams have so far searched for a combined 11 hours and covered approximately 1,670 square miles. The current on-scene weather conditions consist of 17 mph winds, 1- to 2-foot seas and 8-10 miles of visibility.
