Coast Guard rescues 3 from capsized vessel near Sargent, Texas

HOUSTON — The Coast Guard rescued three people from a capsized vessel near Sargent, Texas, Saturday afternoon.

Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston command center watchstanders received a report at 11:03 a.m. of a 17-foot pleasure craft that capsized with two adults and one adolescent aboard.

Watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast, directed the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65 helicopter air crew, and a Coast Guard Station Freeport 29-foot Response Boat–Small crew.

Once on scene, the air and boat crews located the people sitting on the capsized vessel. The air crew lowered their rescue swimmer, who then helped assist the boaters from the capsized vessel onto the Coast Guard small boat.

The three were taken to Bridge Bait Marina in Freeport, Texas.

No injuries were reported.
